Since the beginning of 2001, Hefei Guanghua School has introduced eight groups of International Language teachers from the US (ILP), which totals 132 volunteer English teachers and 15 other foreign experts from the US, Canada and Australia.
Their arrival has greatly pushes the school’s English teaching, strengthened the students and teachers’ passion to study English, improved their English level, broadened the students’ horizon, enhanced the Sino-American cultural communication and reinforced the friendship between Chinese and American people.

ILP English teaching model was created by the famous professor Dr.Trevor R. Mckee of Brigham Young University in the U.S. through many years’ research and practice.  It is a very efficient way to teach the primary school students, whose native language is not English, to grasp English quickly. ILP has compiled a several teaching materials.  The unique ILP English teaching model has been practiced in Russia, Taiwan, and Mainland China for nearly 10 years. The Guanghua Education Group adopted it 3 years ago and has seen many good effects.
ILP volunteer teachers and the university students come from different background. They have a mutual wish to be merged with students and have a significant teaching experience.  All of them are the qualified university students with professional training through strict selection.

The ILP English teaching model creates six different activity scenes by the English teachers to supply a natural and harmony English communication environment. It lets the student study English in an atmosphere full of joy and care.  These six different activity scenes are: games, drama performance, kitchen practice, sports, shopping and handcraft. Each teacher only teaches 6-8 kids. Everyday the children will have 3 hours of English classes.  They shift an activity scene every 25 minutes, so that each student can take part in these six sences’ activities with the American teachers, and can learn all of the oral English in various situations. ILP English teachers encourage students to actively take part in various activities by giving prizes to them.  The kids who have a good behaviour or answer question correctly will get a little token.

Everyday after the three hour American-English teachers’ lessons, the teacher will give the student different prizes according to the number of the tokens they received. This teaching method has very good effects.  It efficiently pushes the students’ passion to learn English.
 ILP English teachers record the students’ development in detail each month. They will let the students take back the teaching process evaluation reports to their parents to let them know their child’s English learning situation.
Before each term’s ending, ILP English teachers will organize every teaching group to have an English performance to show the students’ English development and studying throughout the school term. Hefei Guanghua school will invite all the parents of children who have ILP English training to let the parents see their children’s English learning development. ILP English teachers are pleased to make a home visit so that they can tell the parents about their children’s studying very well by the talking with ILP teachers in person. They cooperate well to make the students have greater development.

The foreign experts’ teaching differs from the ILP teaching method. They teach 2-3 hours English for every class per week according to the teaching books of their selection. They utilize the typical American open teaching methods, which combine the teaching and practicing well. Students practice English actively in class to improve their English listening comprehension, oral English and English writing ability.
Generally, ILP English teaching and foreign experts’ English teaching have proved that the Hefei Guanghua School has efficient English and has already obtained good effects.  Foreign teachers’ English teaching will also continue in the school and will go greater result.
